The 22-meter-high Kaiserturm near Wernigerode, often referred to as the “Rapunzel Fairytale Tower,” offers you a magical view over the town of Wernigerode and the impressive Wernigerode Castle.

A mountain with history

The Armeleuteberg near Wernigerode is a place full of history and character. Once known as a place of retreat, it served as a meeting point and viewing point for the people of the region. The Kaiserturm towers nearby, which you can of course climb for free. From the top you can enjoy a phenomenal view of the fairytale Wernigerode Castle, the beautiful old town and the wide Harz countryside - a real highlight for everyone who climbs the summit.

The rise

From Wernigerode, the climb takes you past the deer enclosure and under the ski jump onto a narrow forest path with great views of the city. A steeper section takes you to the Kaiserturm , where you can reward the climb with a fantastic view of Wernigerode Castle. From there, it's only 200 meters downhill to the summit of the Arme-Leute-Berg - and your well-deserved stamp goal!

The farewell

From Armeleuteberg you only roll downhill a few meters before it goes slightly uphill again towards Elverstein . There your reward awaits: a magnificent, flowing trail that takes you to the upper Wernigerode-Hasserode. The combination of spectacular views and the fun, long trail ensures pure riding pleasure - just enjoy and let it flow!
