The gateway to the Harz

High up in the Harz Mountains stands the Torfhaus, a mystical place that has cast its spell over many a visitor. Once founded by peat cutters, this highest inhabited place in Lower Saxony is now a popular tourist destination. Here, where time seems to stand still, a breathtaking view opens up over endless forests and moors.

New tower, new experiences

The Torfhaus, a place that is constantly evolving. A new observation tower now offers even more spectacular views of the Brocken and the surrounding landscape. After the breathtaking view, a fast ride on the new slide awaits you! And that's not all: In the Bavaria Alm you can enjoy regional specialties and gain exciting insights into nature in the National Park Center.

The rise

The climb to Torfhaus over the Eckertalsperre is a real treat for every mountain biker. The gravel forest road leads through a vast forest and offers an incomparable natural experience. Away from the usual tourist crowds, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of nature to the fullest. After the Brocken, a gentle climb awaits you here.

The farewell

After a short stretch on a narrow trail, the route continues on rough gravel. The route along the Oderteich is unique: the yellow/red gravel under the tires and the recurring views of the still water of the pond create a very special atmosphere. At the end of the descent, a refreshing swim in the Oderteich beckons.
