The rise
to Plessenburg begins on the outskirts of Wernigerode and leads through the picturesque Kumthulental, a historic mining area. You climb the path on a trail that initially flows and later on a gravel track, accompanied by wonderful views of meadows, forests and the impressive Ottofelsen. A steep section challenges you, before you continue relaxed with slight inclines or even downhill. From the Ottofelsen, a pleasantly quiet route to Plessenburg awaits you.
The farewell
from the Plessenburg starts with a short trail and a tough, steep section before a final climb challenges you. After that, you will be rewarded with a kilometer-long, flowing trail that leads towards Darlingerode and the outdoor pool. On gravel and trails, you can enjoy fantastic views of Wernigerode, Darlingerode and the surrounding Harz landscape - a descent that brings pure joy!
